Senior citizen killed in Johor house fire


TANGKAK: An 81-year-old man was killed in a fire which destroyed his house in Kampung Sungai Pilah in Bukit Gambir here on Sunday (Aug 27).

Tangkak fire station operations commander Rafiah Aziz said the charred remains of Daud Abd Latif, believed to be living alone, were found in the kitchen.

She said in response to an emergency call at 6.16 am, 16 firemen were dispatched to the scene.

Rafiah said the house was already ablaze when they reached the location.

The cause of the fire and the losses incurred have yet to be ascertained. - Bernama
